    fly quickly in search of insects. When they are leaving us, they have some instinct to direct them. It is said when swallows fly low that we shall have rain and when they fly high we will have fine weather.
    The MAGPIE is a black and white bird. She builds her nest on the tops of a tree. There is a saying with regards to the magpie's nest "The magpies nest is girt with thorns in leafless tree or hedge". The colour of the eggs are white with black spot. The magpie is a dictructive bird because she eats eggs. There is a lot of sayings with regards to the magpie which is written int he previous pages.
    The GULL is a white bird; she is found mostly by the sea side. Her nest can be found in cliffs or rocks, the nest is made of hay and the eggs are white with brown spots. The gulls feed on crabs and fish. When the gulls gather CAOINING on the mainland and when they fly southwards it is sign of rain or bad stormey weather.
    THE WREN is a small brown bird. She lays about seventeen eggs. On St. Stephen Day a crowd of boys go round the place with a wren up on a stick. They get money from the people and then they sing the following song:-
