This happened a man by the name of Thomas Walsh who is now living in Schull. He had a small farm in the locality and was not able to pay the rent and he was thrown with all his belongings on the roadside and his house was then burned. Several scenes like this happened in this part of the country.The priests were hunted and they said Mass in the valleys. The old people say that there is a Mass Rock to the back of the Creamery and that the priest said Mass there every Sunday. If the priest was caught he would be put to death. There is another Mass Rock in Coosheen and Mass was said there nearly every Sunday.
