   One day they met the old woman coming home from Schull with tobacco, and they said to her that they would go to her house that night and carry a half bag of potatoes for tobacco. She told them to go and they all went that night. They thought of a plan to put one of the boys into a bag and close the mouth of it. The boy went int and when they went to the house they put the bag up in the corner to the old woman. She was delighted to get all the potatoes as she thought the bag contained potatoes and she gave them plenty tobacco all night. When the time came to go home, they gave the signal to the lad in the bag and he gave a jump up and down the floor, for he knew well that she would strike him with something. When she saw him and knew what she had, she caught a big slat that was near the fire and threw it at him. He just escaped it, and if it hit him it would kill him dead. They all ran and left
