  1. There are two fairs held in Schull every month. The pig fair is held on the second thursday and the cattle fair on the following friday.
The fair is held on the street. When the farmer is satisfied with the price given by the buyer they both strike hands. The buyer marks cattle with a colour of red or blue, and pigs by a scratch made with a knife on the back. The buyer gets back money from the farmer.
Pigs are usually brought to the fair in cars, and the cattle are walked.
On the day previous to the fair buyers go around to the farmers buying stock. These buyers are called 'trackers'. The 'trackers' sell the animals to other buyers.
