They have currant bread, sweet loaves, jam, butter, apples and oranges and several other nice things on that night.
New Years Eve is observed in no special manner
People are preparing for New Years Day. On New Years Eve Night people light a Christmas candle or some people light two or three of them.
New Years Day is observed as an ordinary holiday of obligation. People have a big dinner on that day, they have a roast turkey. The older people say that if you have plenty for your dinner you will have plenty for the year. When people meet each other on that day they wish each other a '' Happy New Year''. The old people say that it is luckier to have a man enter a house first on that day.
The Epiphany or '' Little Christmas '' as it is known as in this district is observed in a special manner. People do no work only necessary work that must be done as tending and milking(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
