- The people in olden times had three meals in Summer, and two in Winter. They were breakfast, dinner, and supper. The breakfast was eaten about eight in the morning, the dinner about one ó clock, and the supper about eight ó clock in the evening. The people worked in the morning, usually about two hours before having breakfast. While potatoes were plentiful they were eaten at every meal, and when scarce they were eaten at breakfast, and at dinner, and stirabout or porridge was eaten at supper. Sour thick milk was drunk at every meal. People sat around the table which was placed in the centre of the floor. The table was never hung up in this district.
