    Crane or Heron / Tops of tall trees / Platform of twigs with a slight hollow. White eggs nearly as large as a hen egg with brown spots. Food:- fish and frogs.
    Pheasant / Side of a grassy fence with good cover / Moss and dry grass. Eggs-: brown with black spots about 12 in number. Food :- seeds, insects, ants, and worms.
    Owl / In a hole in a hollow tree. / Brittle sticks and dry moss. White eggs shaped like balls. Food:- rats, mice.
    Hawk / Top of a fir tree / Twigs, mud, lined with dry grass. Eggs:- White with brown spots. Food -: Small birds and young animals.
    Rook / Tops of unclimbable trees. / Sticks, papers, rags and grass. Food :- Seed, worms, potatoes, and grubs. Pale blue eggs.
