- (continued from previous page)Then the people give them a few pence and they divide it equally among each other. On Hallow Eve Night people have snap apple. Apples are hung from the ceiling and apples are put into a tub of water. Who ever catches the apple may eat it. A cake is also brought for that night which contains a ring, a rag, a stick and a bean. It is said that the person who gets the ring will be married within the year. The rag is for riches. The stick is a sign that the person will be beaten well and the bean is for poverty.
