  1. Clothes Made Locally
There are four tailors in the district, but two are no longer working at the trade. One, Dan Madigan, lives in Ballybahallow, and the other, Mike Collins, lives in Freemount. The tailor of olden times worked in their customer's houses, when they made clothes for their family.
Freizer was worn at that time. A tailor is said to be the one ninth part of a man. The tailor of long ago did all the sewing with a needle. There was no bottom to his thimble. He also carried about with him his scissors, lap-board and goose for pressing and the tape measure made of cloth. Stockings were knitted at home from woolen thread, spun at home.
