But ah! alas! a tyrant cruel came to our lovely shore
And laid in ruins our castles grand from Glanworth to Lismore
Oh dear old hoary Funcheon when I look upon the lea
That hems in thy crystal waters from the Hag's Bed to Cronee.
In sorrow deep, my eyes doth weep, and tears in torrents flow
When I gaze upon the lovely land, England's minions doth o'erthrow
(Cromwell and his hireling hoard did)
The land that the little plant to represent the Godhead Three
Yes the land where green the shamrock grows is destined to be free
And the sunburst of Freedom will shine through our land
And the day is not far distant too when the army that is dressed
In the fallen leaves crest will have to our Land bid Adieu
And the Green White and gold its wings will unfold
To protect our dear Island of Green
When at Vesters we'll stand, in the Funcheon vales grand
Neath the Banner of Dark Rosaleen
The above two poems composed by Miss A M Daly Corbally
Tras-scríofa ag duine dár meitheal tras-scríbhneoirí deonacha.
