- Mr Bernard Stack, mason and stonecutter began his career as an apprentice in the erection of the beautiful Gothic Cathedral of Cobh. The Cathedral took sixty years to build and at the end of that time was still hale and hearty. It was he who placed the cross on the spire on its completion.
