  1. When I was about fourteen years of age I was going on a message to a neighbouring village about nightfall. I saw a dead man in a stream. I knew the man. I had to wait until somebody else came along and the body was taken to the Barrack where an inquest was held. I was one of the chief witnesses. A short time after that I was coming from races when I met the ghost of the man. I told his wife but she said it was imagination. My mother was sick and the priest came to see her. My father told him that I saw a ghost. He sent for me and he wanted to persuade me that I did not see him. He said that if I did, that I would soon see him again. He gave me a medal and an Agnus Dei and he told me to ask him three times in the name of Jesus Crucified if there was anything troubling him. I saw him again about two months after that. I made the sign of the Cross and asked him in name of Jesus Crucified if there was anything troubling him. I had to ask him three times. He spoke quite plainly and said that he would do me no harm. He asked me to give a message to his wife to tell her that there was a herb growing in a certain place that would cure the evil
