    the fire and when the sock was beginning to get red the brier was tightening around the churn and they heard a woman roaring a long distance away. As the sock was reddening the woman was coming nearer and nearer and at last she came into the house roaring to be let free. The woman told the witch that she would not let her free until she brought back all the butter she had taken.
