  1. About one hundred years ago when boots were first worn people would take their boots on their shoulders if they were going to mass or to town. When they would come near the place they would be going to they would put on their boots.
About sixty years ago children used not to wear boots until they were about fourteen years of age. When my father was young he never wore a boot in the summer nor sometimes in the winter. He was quite used to it and it took no effect of his feet. Boots were very rare in those days and it was a treat to children to get a pair of boots.
About five years ago all the children used to go to school barefooted. Now no child goes to school barefooted because they have light shoes called sandals.
People say that if you washed your feet at night you should not throw out the water until morning. It is said that it protects the house from evil spirits.
