    Vessels were usually used, iron spoons were used for general purposes. When tea was scarce in time gone bye, there was breakfast at a farmer's house. There was lump sugar on the table and with it was the sugar tongs. Spoons were seldom seen that there were but few spoons on the table, and they were short one. One man said in irish there are two spoons here as he caught the sugar tongs and made two halves of it, thinking those were two spoons clung together.
