These bonfires were attended by young and old, and usually were celebrated with dancing and merriment. The bonfires were lit at a crossroads.Michaelmas. On that feast usually a goose was killed.St. Martin's day: On that feast the old people killed some fowl - a goose usually. It was considered lucky to spill blood.
