    Roinn Roinn Postáil
    T.D. Shanahan was and is undoubtedly the sweetest poet that ever brought fame to this locality. He was born in Rathcahill. His home still stands near the Blessed Well which he has forever enshrined in song.
    Neath the hazel dell stood the Blessed Well.
    Oh that balm for every grief,
    Where the crippled strayed and the blind men prayed,
    And the afflicted found relief.
    About Rathcahill he wrote the following:
    Oh for a glimpse of my native hills,
    When robed in their emerald green,
    The towering peaks of ashford range,
    The slopes of glenagowan.
    The purple heather on Ronan's heights,
    The ferns in Conways glen,
    The fairy thimbles in Delee's wood,
    Oh I am longing to see them again.
    For I have wandered far and my heart is sore,
    And my soul thoughts fondly stray.
