- I live in townland of Camas. It is in the Parish of Monagae and in the Baroney of Glenquin. It is inhabited by forty families and about one hundred and forty people are living there. The names most common are McEnery and Cotter. The largest number of the houses are thatched. Camas got its name from two words Cam Aba meaning a crooked river. There are about ten people getting the old age pension in the district but I think they know no Irish.
There were more houses in the locality in former times because some of them are in ruins now. The is one ruined house opposite McEnerys fort.
The fort is surrounded by a big dike and it is covered with nut trees and bushes. it is said that the McEnerys cut the bushes in the fort and two horses died belong to them and(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
