- There was a great burning in Knockacraig, Dromcollogher about the year 1898. The house was owned by Jeremiah Mac Carthy. It was a thatched house, covered with zinc. The burning took place on Christmas morning 1898. When the burning took place, all the people of the house were at Mass, except one boy, who was in bed sick. When John Body saw the fire, he ran in, and asked the boy, where the money was hid. It was hid inside in a stopped clock. Then he carried it into his own house, and saved it. Then he ran to the church, and told the people. They ran back and tried to quench it, but they failed. It was how the Christmas candles at the wall-paper, and set the house in fire.
