In former times doctors were not as plentiful and the old people had to seek remedies for their ailments elsewhere.
1. A burn of a nettle is cured by application of dog-leaf
2. Crows-foot cures a toothache
3. Boiled hay is often given to sick calves
4. Either cobwebs or flax stops bleeding
A prayer to stop bleeding is as follows:-
“Jesus of Nazareth was born in Galilee,
He came to the Jordan baptised to be,
The water was clear, and the day was good,
And when Jesus came the water stood,
By his word, and in his name,
I commend this blood to do the same”
5. The seventh son in the family is always gifted with a cure.

7. Celery seeds or a sting from a bee will cure rheumatism
