written by Mary Moran, Ballyhoman - In the north west corner of the ruined chapel of the Franciscan Monastery of Askeaton, stands a stone monument. It is about six feet high by four feet wide and six feet long. On the front is engraved the figure of a child with a trumpet in his hands and the strange inscription "Pass me, for I strang". Even the oldest inhabitant of the town knows nothing of its contents. Some say that it contains the long lost treasure of the Abbey while others say it is the grave of some(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
