- In Kildimo parish there is a lovely spot enveloped in a grove of trees, which has a very weird appearance, even in clear day. The place is called Poll-na-Spride and according to people of the neighbourhood it deserves that name.Nobody cares to pass it after dark and anybody that does is certain to witness some eerie scene here.Once, dead and gone people were seen hunting on horseback here and the neighing of the horses and the whining of the dogs could be heard distinctly, but no sound of human voices was heard. The headless coach can be heard here at midnight, rumbling with a heavy and empty sound through the field, until it reaches a certain point, where it disappeared. According to tradition, the unfortunate meeter of this vehicle, who stands aside to let it pass is crushed to the wall.On many occasions a tall man dressed in black, with a black bowler hat was seen at Poll-na-Spride at at night and horses are heard at most unearthly hours galloping about it. There is a very weak tradition that a murder occurred here in past years and the old people believe that the man who is seen here is the murderer, who is still doing penance for his sin. Whether this be true or not, one thing is certain that Poll-na-Spride is the lonliest and most weird place I have ever experienced.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
