- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)and silver. He told his mate and they decided to cover it in and come that night to get it. They covered it in and continued their work at the trench. That night however they came back to get the hidden treasure but just as they went down in the trench a figure came out of the abbey and when they saw it the two men fled leaving the treasures behind them. It is believed that it was the Franciscans that hid them there.A short time afterwards one of the men took sick and died. The other lived to the age of 86. He told the story to some others. Mr Joseph Lynch, a Limerick man, heard the story. Some years afterwards he came to the late earl of Dunraven and had an interview with him on the subject. He urged his permission to excavate. This was never carried out. The old man died some time afterwards.Got by Mona Connolly from her father Thomas Connolly, Adare, Co. Limerick (60 years)
