   a good part of each day in a paddock with a fierce bull. It was an every day sight to see her scratching the bull's horn, with her arm thrown affectionately about his neck. No three men in the district would be willing to enter the field in which this bull was, so fierce was he, yet the iarlais was his master. (This story I used to hear at the fireside but I am certain that I have lost a good portion of it. I remember distinctly those portions in inverted commas for I believe they were specially stressed by the narrator). Compare Ethna Carbery's "I met the love talker one eve in the glen".
   All the above, under this heading - Local Traditions etc" as far as last source quoted, is from what I remember to have heard when a child in Tiob. 'Ar.
   In the "Proceedings of Royal Irish Academy", Vol. 35 (XXXV) Section C. Nos 10, 11 and which I have studied since I sent in Cuid I, there is an article by T. J. Westropp on Aonach Cairbre, Sidhe Asail etc. In this article the contributor deplores the vandalism which wrecked and destroyed the figure-of-8 shaped fort on the site of the Aonach and wholly ascribes that destruction to the ravages of house-builders and road-makers. The following from Pat Allen, already listed as a contributor, may throw a little further light on the manner in which the "carn" was destroyed.
