- About three- quarters of mile to the north of this school is St. Ailbe's Rock, as it is known locally. It is situated on the side of the road leading thro' Lackelly (Leac Ailbhe).
Visitors are shown various marks and hieroglyphics on the large rock overhanging the flag or "leac" under which St. Ailbe was found suckled by a she-wolf. Local people point out one mark as representing the point of Ailbe's staff.
Others point out five little indentures and say that they are the marks of Ailbe's five fingers. Quite close to the mark of the staff is a clear imprint of a human foot worn into the rock ( which, by the way, is old limestone- the district itself producing limestone quarries of excellent quality)
Part of the rock also is worn to form a sort of seat.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
