- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)It is believe that cannon balls were fired at the Abbey during the Cromwellian war from a hill called Roundhill on the southern side of the Abbey.A short time before the Anglo Irish truce in 1921 military and police placed bombs in the Abbey and exploded them thereby shaking a large portion of the stone - work part of which fell on the public road - and leaving another portion in a dangerous condition. Portions of the lofts in the central steeple were standing until a few years ago but they have all fallen into decay. The Abbey is said to be connected with the graveyard in Galbally by an underground passage. Last year the Abbey was repaired by the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
