- In the country now-a-days there is very few people making butter, but long ago most of the farmer's made it. When farmers are making butter they must have a Churn. A churn is a round barrel erected up on a stand. There is a handle on each side of the Churn to twist it, and the person who is making the butter must keep the handle twisted.
In order to have (all vessels) the butter clean all the vessels must be cleaned well. Any person who cam in to the house while the churning was going on usually twisted the handle of the Churn for a while. In warm weather cold spring water was put in to clean the butter.
In the summer when the weather was very warm the (weather) churning was done twice a week and in the winter it was done about twice(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
