    4. Patrick Burke who was a caretaker at Massy Lodge was a famous storyteller. He was born in Oldtown, Bruff, Co. Limerick about 70 years ago.
    Another famous storyteller was Michael Whelan who lived where John Regan Quane now resides in Barnagurraha.
    They related historical stories and funny yarns. Some appeared to be fiction. Whelan was born in 1815 at Banteen beyond the cross of Barna, Galbally, Co. Limerick, Coshlea.
    The stories were usually told at wakes and the people usually gathered around them wherever they went.
    Their favourite stories were about how the local Landlords acquired their places and stories handed down from father to son about the Glen of Aherlow, The Galtees, and the lakes on the Galtees.
