- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)National School opened on the 5th July 1869. Pat Fitzgerald stayed in the pupils homes.School began about 9 o'clock and ended about 3.30. There was an hours break or so at noon when the scholars who lived near the school went home to their dinner.
There was another Hedge-School in the same spot before and was taught by a man called Broderick who came from the Midleton Co. Cork direction. Broderick was a bit of a rake who had run away from his people. He was a very educated man and used to lodge in the farmers' houses around. He did not teach Irish as the people did not like it and were opposed to our National Language. One time he ran away from the school but he returned again later.Broderick stayed at O'Donnells place in Inchacombe, Anglesboro' Co. Limk. now occupied by Ned Dunne. This family were known as the "Stirabout O'Donnells". Tom O'Donnell(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
