- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)her husband's illness. She told him also that there was a rash coming out on her husband and that it looked something like buds on a bush in the spring time. He said he would like to see her husband and perhaps he could do something for her to pay her for her kindness to him.He went into the sick man's room and saw him and the strange "buds" or growth that had grown all over his body. He was unable to suggest anything to assist the poor woman in her trouble. He came back to the fire and sat down and began to ponder over this strange case. He cast his eyes up the chimney and saw the blackthorn stick and to his surprise he saw that it was covered with buds similar to those on the stick man. It struck him that there was some connection between them, so he questioned the sick man and the story of how he had cut a bush in the lios and he then and there ordered his wife to take back the stick to the lios and leave it there. This was done and from that day out the man grew better and was soon restored to health.
