O'Moore having consulted O'Neill decided to come and despite a show of opposition from O'Ruiond arrived safely in Limerick.
Sir Thomas Norris marched to Kilmallock to attack him but was obliged to retire to Cork leaving a garrison behind him and his rearguard was roughly handled by the forced of O'Moore.
