- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)and rolled and flattened with the palm of the hand. A cross was cut on the dough to help it to rise. The cake was then put into a hot bastable or pot oven. The oven was covered with a hot lid on which was placed red turf and sometimes red sticks and then hung on a crane over the burning embers.
No fresh meat was eaten. Bacon was used a couple of times in the week.
Fish was never eaten. Potatoes and cabbage were the only vegetables eaten.
Eggs were eaten for breakfast on Easter Sunday morning.
