- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)make a knot.Boys pick the nuts of the Horsechestnut-tree. They bore a hole through each nut with a nail. They put a big knot on one end of a piece of cord and then put the cord through the hole in the nut. Two boys then play - they try to break each others nuts by striking at them. The one whose nut gets broken first loses. This game they call "conquers" and the boys call the nuts "conquers" and call the Horsechestnut tree "the conquer tree."The game called "Soldiers" is played by two boys. Each boy gets an equal number of grasses. Then one boy holds out a grass and the other boy strikes at its head with his grass and tries to knock off the black head. The boy whose grasses lose all their heads loses the battle.
