They continued and when the house was built they could never stay in the kitchen after 12 o'clock at night. One night the woman & servant girl remained up ironing clothes and about 11 some one knocked at the door & said "go to bed". They paid no heed but continued until all were finished. When they got up in the morning they found that all the clothes ironed after 11.30 were scorched and black.
Another man named Redfern lived near the bridge over the Mulcair river which used to flood the land at the Cappamore side of the bridge. One particular night the river was very high & fearing that his house would swept away he swam across & picked the bank on the opposite side with a thread wattle.
