“About fifty years ago, there lived a woman by the names of Nora Walsh, Long Street, Cappamore, Co. Limerick.”
About fifty years ago, there lived a woman by the name of Nora Walsh, Long Street, Cappamore, Co. Limerick.
Her father and mother were dead, and she was left alone. She was very poor, and one day she set out looking for some one to hire her, and travelled all the day long until night time.
Just as it was getting dark she saw a light far away, and went in. The Mistress of the house said "Good Night" and she said to her "Where are you going?". She said "Looking for service". The mistress said to the master, "We will keep her".
She saw the two of them inside in the room whispering to each other. Then they went out, and a man inside in a room called in the woman and said to her "I am not dead at all. Don't let on anything".
