- There was a great mill in this village of O'Briens Bridge once. It is closed down now for the last 70 years. It is a great loss to the people of the village that the mill should close down. By looking around the village now you can see the ruins of all the old houses that were there when the mill was working. The mill gave employment to all the people around. The reason why the mill closed down was that they were getting no wheat from the farmers around. The wheat was coming in from foreign countries cheaper than the millers were getting it at home.
There was an old mill one time near our house in Mr. Coffey's farm. It was a mill for crushing oats. It was worked by water. The stream that that used to work it is still there, and it is called the mill-stream.- Bailitheoir
