- Some spare sacks were opened at one end and through the bottom. All those sacks were again sewed together so as to form a large sheet in which to place the corn before and after winnowing. This was placed in a clean yard or a field with a light layer of clean straw between it and the ground.A breezy day being selected for this purpose the man stood on a chair so as to get the full force of the wind. The winnower catching a Barán in a slanted position which was filled with corn, pushed forwards and backwards to the body, the corn gently streaming from the Barán to the sheet below. The chaff was blow by the the wind over the sheet as well as small corn and weed seed etc. Those seeds were blown to the front of the heavy corn beneath the winnower. The last two mentioned seeds being brushed aside leaving nothing but the heavy seed. When the required amount had been(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
