   My father told me that people in former times never wore boots until the reached 25 or 30 years of age. The younger people of 19 or 20 yrs never wore boots unless when going to mass on Sunday, or going to the markets on week days. I have never heard around my district any accounts of people who never wore boots. The children nowadays do not go barefoot the whole year round. The only time they go barefoot is from the month of May to the month of September. In the Winter time the majority of the children wear boots, except those who cannot afford to buy them.

   I heard that the water after washing the feet should be kept in the house at night until the last person of the house returns home at night. This person is supposed to throw out the water.

   Boots are made and repaired locally in the town of Kilmallock, at William Byrnes. He both make boots and mends them. Six
