    the Friars Lake.
    This lake being the shape of a crescent, is situated between the landed properties of T.B. Stoney Esq. R.M. and F.H. French J.P.
    It is fabled to have been the favourite resort of the monks who inhabited those monasteries at Lorrha, ere Cromwell demolised them, and that they had a subterraneous passage where they gained access to it. Hence its name.

    Twas evening in the Month of May:
    Charmed by the tranquil scene,
    I wandered thro' yon shady wood
    Beneath the leaves so green:
