  1. My Home District
My home is situated in the townland of Abbeyville, in the parish of Lorrha, in the barony of Lower Ormond.
In the townland of Abbeyville there are twelve families and about sixty two people. The most common family name in this district is O'Meara. All the houses in this townland are slated except two which are thatched. There are two or three people over seventy but they do not speak Irish. Many people emigrated to America and to other countries from this district.
The land is level and good.
There is a little lake in front of my home and a beautiful wood growing on one side of it.
There is also a historical old castle in the vicinity called Lackeen Castle.
