- Otway was the landlord of this district. They were here since the time of Cromwell The Otway's were always looked upon as good landlords. They gathered no tithes from the people. There was a body of yeoman minding the castle about a hundred years ago. Otway's ancestors were captains in Cromwell's army in 1649. There were no people evicted in this district.

- There is a forge situated about half a mile from the village. The owner of it is Mrs Kenny, and the name of the man who works in it is Tom Brien. It is a small house built of stone and the roof is slated. there are two doors in it, one at the front and the other is at the back. There is a hole in the roof to let the smoke go out. There is a bellows and anvil and sledge(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
