- There are many families of travelling folk which visit this parish and the names of some of them are the Bonds, the Touheys, the Kellys and the Murpheys. Of these four the ones which visit this place most frequently are the Kellys and the Murpheys.
An old man of the Murphey family comes very often around Castle-Lough. This man carries a stick and he takes no alms except a penny therefore we call him "The Penny Man".
Great in numbers of the travelling folk go to hurlings and other sports because they know that there is a good crowd there and then they have a good chance of getting help. Some of these go about selling apples, oranges and bananas at a penny each. Others have tent made(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
