- Mrs Bonfields of Gurtmore, who is now over 80 years, told me this story about the hidden treasure of Gurtmore. Her Uncle John Corcoran was an officer in the Fenian Army. Every three months an army of three hundred men came to Gurtmore to drill there. The money with whic they were paid was left at Corcoran's house. After a time a report went out that the house was going to be raided. The army had not come there for a long time and there was a lot of money there.
