- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)They churned three times every week. In the Summer-time the churning was done early in the morning before the sun got too hot. All the family helped at the churning and if anyone came in he would have to help too. No one could take light out of a house where churning was going on. If a neighbour came in to light his pipe he would go out again without lighting it but he had to take a hand at the churning. This was done so that he would not take the butter away with him. When the butter was made it was placed in a tub and washed and salted. Then it was packed into a firkin and taken to market and sold. The market for here was Limerick.
