    When alluding to a long or tedious function of any kind, they say "As long as a late breakfast"
    When they wish to recommend a bride who has no fortune, they say :- " A fortune in a woman is better than a fortune with a woman"
    When trying to excuse a person who is supposed to be too cute or selfish, they say:- "It's an old cat that wouldn't drink milk"
    The following well known sayings are also much used.
    "No news is good news"
    "It's a bad wind that doesn't blow good to someone"
    "A closed mouth catches no flies"
    "The early bird catches the worm"
    "Never put off till tomorrow, what you can do today"
    "An apple a day keeps the doctor away"
    "Man proposes and God disposes"
    "It's all very well to laugh and grin
    when life goes like a song,
    But it takes a man to laugh
    when everything goes wrong"
