    Long ago the farmers used to make their own baskets. They used to cut a bow, and they used to tie the two ends of it together. They used to put four or five rods across the end of it. They used to weave weak rods the end of it until it was made. A man named Pat Hayes used to make them who lives in Lackamore. Hampers were made in the same way also. The baskets were used to bring in turf and potatoes, also to strain the potatoes when they were boiled.
    Weaving
    In olden times (us) the farmers used to grow their own flax. When ripe it was pulled an put steeping in bog water, and spread out to dry. When it was dry it was pounded, cloved and hackled, and spun. When spun it was taken to the weaver who made into sheets and other articles. The local weaver was a man named James O'Grady of
