Within 48 hours police called to Tom Devereux with the pardon and the Ryans returned home.

    The following poem was composed by a resident of the district, Ned Groke. He now lives in Alaska.
    One evening late as I chanced to stray
    Round dear old Hacketts Hill
    Twas from there I spied a maid
    Beneath the Church of Kill
    She was modest fair and handsome
    As any could behold
    Twas on her dress I do confess
    Was many a robe of gold.
    I vouch I'd win this beauteous love
    Mid every up and down
    To cheer my old declining years
    In the Lonely House of Bown
