Kickham St - Boher-a-Vorga - a townland between Callan and Mullinahone was so named because of laws passed in the reign of Henry VIII giving walled towns the right to levy customs on wares sold by travellers on the streets. To evade the customs pedlars usually sold their wares at some public road near the town which was a good centre for trade. This they did at Boher-a-Vorga. (Bóthar an Mhargaidh)Told byJames Maher
