- The birds commonly found in this district are the
crow, jackdaw, hawk, blackbird, thrush, robin, sparrow, swallow, wren, woodpigeon, yellowhammer, wagtail, starling, curlew, cuckoo, corncrake, goldfinch, bullfinch, green finch, chaffinch, skylark, titlark, heron, leathern bat, owl, seagull, wild geese, water hen, snipe, tomtit, grouse and the plover.
The crows build their nests of twigs and leaves ont he top of the tall trees. They build where there are eight or nine trees together as they do not like to be alone. This is called a rookery. They lay four or five spotted eggs in the chimeny and in the trunks of trees. they lay about five eggs.
