- Three parishes Grange, Ardfinan and Ballybacon are united in one parish.
The parish of Ballybacon is at the mountain foot on the south and contains some mountain land.
Grange is all arable land.
The people of Grange "look down" very much on the Ballybacon people. They give them the name of being mean and near.
Ballybacon people also have the name of being "soupers" in past times, and many families in that parish would be highly insulted if called "soupers"
The people of Newcastle" parish on the south of Grange considered the people of Grange proud - ie. having an empty pride with nothing behind it.
They used to call it:
"Gráinseach na sop" sarcastically.
Grange parish has given an extraordinary number of priests to the church.- Bailitheoir
